"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

This is so true and a great reminder to keep our priorities in check. A good indicator of where our hearts currently are can be determined by what we choose to spend our time on. Taking inventory and being honest with ourselves regarding the things we value is so, so important. It is so easy to fall into denial and convince yourself that where your heart is at is "good enough"...as a justification to satisfy your appetite for the things of this world. And that is not to say that these things (in moderation) are bad in and of themselves; however, when you start treasuring anything more than your time with God, then your heart is not where it belongs. I know where I WANT my heart to be and so often, I find it distracted by things of little importance. This was the perfect verse to remind me to be introspective into the current situation of my heart.

On a side note:
"For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end."
Love that.

First off: This may seem silly, but I am loving how the Bible is beginning to feel familiar in my hand again. The weight of it and the ease with which I flip through the pages to find the books we are reading in... the margins of scribble and the softened cover... all these things make my heart happy. I am falling in love with God's Word!

Second: I know a lot of the repetitious stuff gets wearing... the multiple descriptions of the tabernacle and the repetetiveness of the 4 Gospels... but I am finding that, much like in preparing for a test, these things are actually STICKING WITH ME because I am studying them over and over. I can't help but wonder if that is why God set the Bible up that way?

Like, every time I read one of the Gospels, I am hit with a different revelation. EVEN THOUGH I just read that exact same story a couple of weeks ago in Matthew or Mark... it isn't actually sinking in or changing my heart until I read it again in Luke. ha. I find myself feeling thankful for this repetition because I NEED IT!!

That's a wonderful way to look at it Emery. I've been having a hard time with the repetition... especially in the Old Testament. But I too am loving reading the bible again. It's been years. This is such a good thing. :)
