My bible's footnotes point out two interesting things about these verses in Deuteronomy, one is that making a likeness of God is like someone taking your picture, framing it, worshipping it and showing to others but ignoring you. I thought that was a great metaphor. And, there is a flip side to every commandment. A do as well as a don't. For example, DON'T covet your neighbor's ---- but thst also means, DO be content with what you have. Just something I've been mulling over.
Maybe next time I get really annoyed at a store employee or driver on the road, etc, I'll remember how Stephen treated those who wronged him. With love.
