The parable of the three servants with the silver reminds me of what God always tells me with being obedient with the little responsibilities.

If I can't go the extra mile in my work in little ways, how will He bless me with more responsibility? If I can't be responsible with the five dollars in my pocket, then how can He entrust even more to me for me to use for His purposes?

If we want God to use us more, we have to first be useable in the little ways. I love this reminder!

Matthew 25:31-46 is so powerful to me. "Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’" Jesus is putting himself in the place of those most vulnerable and in need, and that is who we are called to look after. This is the one thing that God calls us to do that I fear we ignore the most.

I was struck by the parable of the servants and the talents as well. The part that struck me was the servant with the two talents. Even though he was only entrusted with two talents, he did well with those, and the master gave him the same reply as he did to the servant with five talents: "Well done, good and faithful servant!"

I often ache for God to be proud of me. I long to hear the words "good and faithful servant". Yet I also feel like I'm spinning my wheels; there is so little I can do.

But... it doesn't matter how "little" or "much" I have. I need to treasure what God has given me, two talents or five. If I do well with my two talents, maybe God will entrust me with more, but if He doesn't, it won't matter. The servant with two talents still succeeded and the Master was very proud of him.

I am floored by the numerous parallels between Joseph's story, psalm 20, and Mat. 25:14-30. (parable of the talent)

Joseph was faithful with what he was trusted with and so he was blessed by the Lord. Kept safe in trouble, and consistently promoted. Psalm 20 reads like prayer that I am convinced was not far from Joseph's lips when he was falsely accused and thrown into prison.

I have always heard how the Bible was rich with parallels and how the OT was a beautiful tapestry of the things to come in the NT. It has only been until this year that I have come to believe it for myself.

Thanks to all who are making this journey so sweet!

Oh yeah...how gnarly is Mat 25:31:46??

"For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me."

Lord open my eyes!
