He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" Mark 4:40

Even though we read about Jesus calming the storm in Matthew, this verse stuck out to me today. Lately I've been stressing myself out about things going on in my life. I always seem to get scared and make myself sick over things, but this verse was like Jesus speaking directly to me, asking me why I'm still afraid, do I not have enough faith to know that He will take care of me? That He will be with me and make sure everything will be alright?

Sometimes I try to take control of things myself, and forget that it's really Jesus who's in control. He will bring me comfort when I am scared and take my burden when it is heavy. Thank you, Jesus, for not letting me go through this alone.

Thanks for the link, Molly June, those notes were helpful.

And Emily, thanks for your thoughts, I can definitely relate.

PS-- Interesting fact from BlueLetterBible.com:
This psalm is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

KillerB: Thanks for sharing such a cool fact!

Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long.
Psalm 25

I think these verses from today's Psalm are my new motto for the year! It so describes my prayer for what this 365truth reading/sharing will be for me! It made me laugh because I even wait all day long to do my reading at night!(undisturbed by kids) Praying this prayer for myself and all of us tonight!

I love this particular translation of the psalm:

"...for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long."

it just sounds so vernacular, so wonderfully applicable to my daily existence. my hope is in you all day long.

"So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities. But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites and worked them ruthlessly."

At first reading this all I see is the oppression. God is allowing the ones he called His people to be oppressed? But now my eyes are opened. The more oppressed they were the more the multiplied. He promised Israel his ancestors would be blessed and would be many. God is preparing them already for Moses to bring them out of Egypt to claim the land of honey and milk that God has in store for them. Amazing how Gods plan for us begin before we even realize it exists.

molly june- thank you for that link!! i loved it!

I don't know if I this is 100% accurate of me to do or not, but whenever I read the Psalms and David is talking about 'his enemies', I immediately think about MY enemy-- Satan. So, when he says 'Do not let my enemies triumph over me' or 'See how my enemies have increased and how fiercely they hate me!' I am reading and praying YES God, give me victory over my enemies! And I am reminded that Satan is very real and prowling about me like a lion!

Ever since I started reading the Psalms in that light I have gotten so much more out of them.
